LOCATION
300km. south of Perth in picturesque Rosa Glen, 20km. from
Margaret River in Western Australia. West of 115o 18 longitude
known ans the Gladstone line.
SOILS
1 – 2m of gravely loam over thick white clay.
CLIMATE
Classified cool climate grape region, warm dry summers with cool
afternoon ocean breezes.
RAINFALL
1154mls annually falling predominantly winter and autumn.
ELEVATION
One of the highest sites in Margaret River (120mtr).
IRRIGATION
All vines are on drip irrigation, however the now mature vines
only receive water in exceptionally dry years to prevent excessive
stress.
CANOPY MANAGEMENT
Movable foliage wires lift the grape canes to a vertical
position allowing full sun penetration to the fruit zone, achieving
maximum ripeness and minimum disease.
PRUNING
During the winter months vines are spur pruned to 36-40 buds per
vine, with cane pruning only used on young vines or to restructure
the mature vines.
BIRD NETTING
Nets are extensively used to protect the ripening grapes from
silvereyes, parrots and crows.
ANIMALS
Ducks, geese, guinea fowl and chickens free range to vineyard
for 10 months of the year to eliminate the use of undesirable
pesticides (for 2 months they are confined when the grapes are
ripening)
